About Dr. Derek Bennett PT, DPT
Derek grew up in New Concord, Ohio playing baseball, wrestling, participating in 4-H, along with community and church related activities. Through the years, he dealt with injuries of his own: shoulder, knee, elbow, and back, hindering his ability to participate at his top level. "Life" introduced Derek to the world of physical therapy and improving overall health.
Derek received his Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh (#1 Physical Therapy School in the Country, according to US News) with a focus on shoulder, elbow, and knee rehab. He also completed one of his many clinical rotations at the Ohio State University's Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute where he was able to attend Upper Extremity Athlete and Sports Medicine weekly conferences for specialized training. He has worked with people at every stage in life, from pediatrics to high school and college athletes, to those undergoing knee and shoulder replacements later in life.
He sincerely enjoys working with active and motivated patients that are trying to get back to working out in the gym, fitness classes, sports or the ability to get out and enjoy, family, friends and a "better" quality of life. Dr. Bennett's goal is to provide a high standard of care that will not only improve the ache or pain that is keeping you from what you want to do, but to find the underlying cause, provide treatment in a holistic way, and provide you the education and plan for a life lasting change.
